The route is one of the most scenic we ride (although we have an abundance of scenic routes here) here in Orange, Lawrence, & Washington Counties... the route can be started at the @poi[historic Opera House in Mitchell, IN](38153549) (as the map is drawn) or at @poi[Historic Downtown Square in Orleans, IN](38153555), and it can be ridden in either direction.

The route meandors thru Southern Indiana farmland, Amish communities, and a number of historic sites. Astronaut Gus Grissom's hometown of Mitchell, the historic Mitchell Opera House, and the historic Stetson House built in 1894 by hat mogul John Stetson.  The route can be amended to pass by the Guthrie Mansion in Tunnleton, IN, and many many more places of interest.

The roads are primarily in excellent condition with just a portion of pavement that is a bit rough mostly due to Amish traffic and our southern Indiana winters. There are a few moderate climbs but nothing to extreme that a casual rider could not accomplish fairly easily.  If you are looking for a low traffic, moderate elevation, country stroll this is the ride you're looking for.
