This route is my attempt to stay away from paved trails and find as much as possible single track and gravel trails leaving and coming back to midtown Toronto, specifically the Sherwood Park.

Route Details

This route is my attempt to stay away from paved trails and find as much as possible single track and gravel trails leaving and coming back to midtown Toronto, specifically the @poi[Sherwood Park](65501650).

Just a heads up, many parts of this route are shared trails where we find walkers, dogs and kids. We should share the space, slow down, and say hello. The more friendly we are, more we will be respected. Catch some speed when the trail is clear but look ahead.

From there we head towards @point[Lawrence Park (Alexander Muir Memorial Gardens)](d,1446.69) following the @poi[Blythwood Ravine Trail](65501658) to take the @poi[upper trail and exit to Glengowan Road](65501657).

From there we ride to @point[Lawrence Ave](d,3248.39) to enter the @poi[York Glendon Campus](65501652) and take the @poi[Gravel Path down to Glendon Forest](65501653).

We enjoy the @poi[Glendon Forest Trail](65501654) which takes us to @point[Sunnybrook Park](d,6257.01).

On Sunnybrook Park we @poi[take the unpaved trail](65501656) which goes to Sunnybrook Sports fields and the stables area.

When we get to the top things get interesting as we follow beautiful Road Apples trail which gives us a great view of the park and will take us to @poi[Thomas H. Thomson Trail](65501659). We take it to ride down to Wilket Creek trail. Caution when riding down as there are steps on the trail which are fun to jump but may be challenging the first few times if the rider is not used to this kind of ride. Just walk the bike if you do not feel safe.

Take the @poi[Wilket Creek Trail](65501660) right in direction of the Serena Gundy Parking Lot where you can find @poi[birdfeeders](65501661) where many types of birds and other animals can be spotted.

On the parking lot corner cross the bridge to Serena Gundy Park and @poi[take the unpaved trail on the left](65501662) which takes us to the Swamp trail.

We ride the @poi[Swamp trail](65501663) until we reach the @poi[Don Trail](65501678) located at the back of the Science Centre.

@point[Just after the second bridge we will take the Boo Trail](d,10256.76) on the right just for the fun of keep enjoying riding on cool single tracks.

We follow the @poi[Boo Trail](65501664) and take a quick water break enjoying the @poi[view of the West Don River](65501665).

From there we head to the Flats. @poi[The entrance to the Flats is hidden just after the bridge behind the guardrail](65501666).

@poi[Be careful as it requires some skills to go down to the trail and cross the picturesque underpass by bike](65501667). Just walk the bike and enjoy if you don't feel confident to ride it.

After the underpass the @poi[Flats trail](65501670) starts and is just a matter to follow the trail and enjoy. There are just a few tricky points, but nothing that is too difficult.

There is a @poi[construction](65501669) going on, and the Flats trail may be closed during weekdays. I will update this note if I notice anything new.

Near the end of the Flats Trail, there is an unofficial @poi[Mountain Bike](65501668) obstacles trail which was built by volunteers and is fun to ride if you have the skills, or just watch if someone is riding.

At the end of the Flats trail we follow the Sun Valley Loop gravel path to @poi[the top of Crothers Woods](65501676) near Bayview Ave. exit. We turn right at the narrow single track trail which will take us to the @poi[decommissioned rail tracks](65501677).

The rail tracks take us directly to Brickworks.

Find the exit on the right to @poi[Brickworks](65501671) and you will be at a nice viewpoint of the area. Read more about Brickworks at [their website](https://www.evergreen.ca/evergreen-brick-works/) and take your time riding and enjoying the area. There is a @poi[bottle refill station](65501643), @poi[toilets](65501642), and a @poi[place where to buy snacks and drinks](65501644).

From Brickworks we take the @point[Bayview Cycle Path](d,18225.54) and @point[cross the active railroad](d,19024.46) and @point[Pottery Rd.](d,19112.57) We are back to the Don Trail.

We ride to @poi[Cottonwoods Flats](65501672) and ride around to enjoy the place.

@poi[Take pictures near the railroad tracks](65501674), but keep in mind these tracks are active, so watch for trains.

From there we take the @poi[narrow single track by the river](65501675). It is very narrow and sometimes tricky to ride, but also fun to enjoy. If you are lucky, you may even find one of the regular Deer around.

At this point We take the paved trail back to Sunnybrook Park until we reach Glendon Forest back.

This time we take the West @poi[Don Riparian Trail](65501655) by the river which will take us back to the Glendon Forest Trail and back to the campus.

When back at the campus we ride to the back of the library where we can have a @photo[view of a beautiful garden](12594450).

By the @poi[Glendon hall](65501651) there are a couple of taps where we can refill our water bottles.

Then we ride back to the @poi[Blythwood Ravine trail](65501658) and back to @poi[Sherwood Park](65501649) where we started.
