One of the most popular gravel routes starting in Downtown Bentonville providing easy access to some of the most well-known Northwest Arkansas gravel roads used by races like [Rule of Three](http://ruleofthree.bike) and [Big Sugar Gravel](https://www.bigsugargravel.com/).

This routes @point[starts in Downtown Bentonville by the Oz Trails Slaughter Pen Trailhead across from Lawrence Plaza](d,6.45) where there is plenty of parking available.  It is a route that rides well even in the sloppiest of conditions at any time of the year.  And no complaining when you notice that most of the segment KOM & QOMs are the top Gravel racers in the world.  Keep your eyes open as you never know who you will meet out there.

Starting from Lawrence Plaza, you will enjoy a @slice[quick descent down NE A Street](d,740.49,3079.62) following the Razorkback Greenway until you reach @slice[your first climb out of Bentonville up NE A Street](d,3124.89,3832.86) (watch for the Oz Trails Castle on your right as you are climbing).  Once you reach the top, you'll enjoy @slice[another swift descent down](d,3832.86,4803.41) to your first right onto Price Coffee Road and the world famous Sugar Creek Valley.  Enjoy the view (it is best enjoyed as the sun comes up).

Soon you will be turning @slice[left up Gooseberry and hitting your first gravel climbs](d,5980.03,7707.87) on the route.  This hill is a gift that keeps on giving.

@poi[*Note:  The lower Gooseberry bridge has been under construction since May 2022 and the County doesn't seem to be in a hurry to fix it, but you can walk through the creek bed if the water isn't high.*](71295154)

Once you reach the top of Gooseberry, enjoy a few paved miles and an @slice[unprotected highway crossing](d,10034.24,10615.55) as you head out to Pea Ridge through some @slice[epic hollows and gravel roads](d,14668.51,17015.29).  You'll experience some quick downhills and rolling climbs, everything that will push you and make you feel like a kid again.

You will wind your way through Pea Ridge, @slice[cross the Highway](d,20041.86,20217.44), and start your @slice[downhill express ride](d,20244.56,22632.13) into the Sugar Creek Valley area.  Hold on but don't forget to look around, it's truly amazing.

@slice[Once you reach the bottom of the valley, it just doesn't get much better than the next 3 miles as you travel through Sugar Creek back towards Bentonville](d,22610.95,26410.01).

You will have an unprotected highway ride on the shoulder for a 1/2 mile, but watch for the @slice[courtesy trail close to the horse fence](d,26972.83,27195.87) that keeps you out of the road to turn back onto Price Coffee Road.

From here you are going to climbing back into Bentonville on Old Dump Road.  It's @slice[a long double climb back into town](d,29141.82,31398.36) but it passes between Handcut Hollow Mountain Bike Trail System that you should come back and visit.

Follow J Street back @slice[past Crystal Bridges and the Orchards Park](d,33183.55,33526.27), turning right onto NW 2nd Street to take you back to the @point[Bentonville Square](d,34870.11).
