Route Details

This is a great 100K+ route that starts at Tulsa's Riverparks and goes west and south through and around some of Tulsa's surrounding towns. Low traffic and smooth roads (for Oklahoma) and abundant opportunities for convenience store stops make this a great route for visitors and locals alike.

# Route

* Choose anywhere along the Riverparks trail system to park
* Ride north to the 21st street bridge, then take 21st/Avery drive to Sand Springs
* You might see an eagle or eagle nest along @slice[Avery drive](d,10061.32,15688.44).
* The route splits @photo[Sapulpa's Pretty Water](14058821) and Sahoma lakes.
* After the lakes, enjoy a fast section that ends when you cross over I-44
* The @photo[Route 66 Car Museum](14059053) is on your left as you emerge onto 66.
* The route will take you around to the south side of Sapulpa where you will find Hickory and head south.
* From 171st and Hickory you will begin winding your way toward Mounds.
* @slice[Use caution as you approach 191st](d,53888.58,55232.08). There is a 3 way intersection and not all ways stop. 
* From Mounds, take 49th West Ave north and enjoy the south winds that push you toward Kiefer.
* If you need to stop in Kiefer, you can but there are better stops on the route.
* A couple of short climbs and some fast neighborhood roads will lead you to alt 75 where a wide shoulder takes you back to Sapulpa.
* Leave Sapulpa by climbing up highway 97 and then descend to Frankoma by way of 166.
* Frankoma and 57th West are fast and fun with a tailwind.
* Finish with the 21st street cruise back to Tulsa

# Notes

* All of the C-stores noted on the route are generally safe to leave your bike unattended with the exception of 21st street QuikTrip. It will always be better with someone watching though.
* @poi[Pop Shoppe](89310383) in south Sapulpa is very welcoming to cyclists.
* Though highways are listed in the route, they are frequently ridden by cyclists, in the city limits, and soloists and groups should have few problems.
