Second section of Trans Caria Bike Packing Route.
This route connects southwest Turkey's well-known ancient ruins and quaint seaside towns to its remote beaches and forgotten villages, on (mostly dirt) tracks snaking through coastal pine forest and over dramatic, rocky hillside.

## Description 
This route connects southwest Turkey's well-known ancient ruins and quaint seaside towns to its remote beaches and forgotten villages, on (mostly dirt) tracks snaking through coastal pine forest and over dramatic, rocky hillside. Passing through multiple towns and villages each day, this route is a logistic breeze; combined with its endless beaches and coastal views, we like to think of it as the bikepacking equivalent of a beach vacation. That being said, the route still has enough tough terrain, steep climbs, and untouched nature to keep any adventure-seeker interested. Combined with a variety of diverse ancient (even prehistoric) sites, villages retaining their traditional architecture and unique dress, and crazy-amazing Aegean food, riders will experience a surprising mix of nature, history, and culture (not to mention pleasure and pain) hard to find anywhere else.

Trans Caria Bikepacking Route consists of two sections, connected with a ferry ride.

This second section starts in Bodrum and finishes at Ephesus.

**Difficulty:** Riding wise, we would rate this as a difficult route due to steep ascents and descents, going above a minimum total elevation of 1000m each day. Logisticly, we would rate this as easy since you don't even have to carry a tent or cook for yourself unless you want to do so.

**Recommended Bike Setup** 
- 45 - 50mm tires for comfort on gravel bikes. 
- Mtb Casette preferred for steep climbs 
- Gravel or hardtail MTB should work

**Accommodation:**
Going through the rugged mountains from Milas to Kapıkırı, village house accommodation or camping are the only options. You will plenty of accommodation options on the rest of the section. Wild camping is considered OK in Turkey as long as you don't build a fire. Forest fires are a big issue, especially in dry months from June to October.

**Food Supply:**
Almost every village has a small shop to buy simple supplies. Dinner and breakfast is usually provided in village house accommodations. There will be a mix of simple food trucks, small cafes or restaurants. Usually, you shouldn't need to cook for breakfast or dinner.

## Bike Shops
You will find decent bike shops (with basic bikepacking equipment) in Bodrum, other than that there will be some smaller shops where you can get simple things fixed on your bike along the way in Milas. For major bikepacking equipment and gravel bike supplies İzmir is the better adress, Shops here will also have boxes to pack your bike if you are flying back via İzmir Airport.
