Routedetails

The Big Cedar Loop is a frequently-ridden road route in the Branson area that combines challenging climbs with fast flat sections to bring you some of the best scenery in the area. You can ride it year-round, though the spring flowers and the fall leaves make for the best riding.

Riders frequently start this ride at the south parking lot of Branson Landing. Cross Lake Taneycomo, then head through historic downtown Hollister where the buildings have an Old English aesthetic. As you climb out of downtown on Business 65, be sure to use the shoulder as this portion of road can have plenty of traffic. The climb tops out as it goes by College of the Ozarks, also known as C of O or Hard Work U.

Past C of O, you'll turn right onto Acacia Club Rd and go down a fast descent back down to Lake Taneycomo. Not long after getting into the valley, you'll turn left onto Iowa Colony, which starts three miles of undulating climbing.

After turning right onto highway 165, you'll go by @poi[a scenic overlook](156297974) that is situated at the top of a bluff. This blufftop is Table Rock, after which Table Rock Lake is named. Directly across the road from it is @poi[Vintage Paris](156297973), a local coffee shop. Continue around to 265 to finish climbing for a bit.

Next, you'll turn right onto Windmill Rd, which soon turns into Graham Clark Rd. Graham Clark is known for being a difficult climb going up, but you're about to go down. The @poi[descent of Graham Clark](156298106) is both fast and tricky, especially at the bottom, where the road dog-legs as it crosses Clevinger Branch. So, be careful here as it is easy for this descent to sneak up on you.

After the descent, you'll have a few rolling miles leading into the back entrance of Big Cedar resort. As you pass by Fun Mountain, you'll start the hardest climb of the loop, which averages 7.6%, but has pitches of 13%. However, once you are at the top, you'll be treated to one of the @poi[best views in the Branson area](156298103). So be sure to stop and take some pictures.

After the climb, you'll ride along a fun and twisty road to the main gate of Big Cedar. Go through the roundabout to continue south on Ridgedale Rd. As you are about to enter Arkansas, you'll pass by @poi[Wild Bill's Travel Center](156298104), which is the last place to stop for food or drink for the next 16 miles.

Once in Arkansas, you'll need to turn @poi[right onto Highway 65](156298107), a very busy four-lane highway. For about 0.7 mi, you'll need to ride on the shoulder, then be very careful as you negotiate crossing the highway to continue west on Highway 14. After riding a little over a mile on Highway 14, you'll turn a sharp left onto Old Springfield Rd, which turns into Highway JJ once it enters Missouri. Continue on this road until mile 33, then turn onto Gobblers Knob. Gobblers Knob will turn into Highway BB, which will take you back down into Hollister. A right turn at Business 65 will take you back toward Branson Landing to finish the ride.
