The ride starts in Templeton at the lovely city park then climbs to the top of the Santa Lucia Range before dropping down to Cayucos on the ocean. Then you ride up the coast and back over the Santa Lucia before you complete the "Triangle".

The ride starts in the @poi[Park](1123874) at Templeton where there is a restroom, water, picnic area, and food close by.  The route heads over to Highway 46 that will take you to the middle of the Santa Lucia Range.  You will turn south on Old Creek Road heading for the coast on this back country road.  Along the way you will ride by Avocado and Citrus orchards.  Then a short climb will have you @poi[overlooking](1123877) Whale Rock Reservoir before the last decent to the beach.  Turning north to @poi[Cayucos](1123878) where there is food, water, and a @poi[restroom](1123878) at the pier.  This is a great place to take a break before you continue the ride up the coast.  The next town up Highway 1 is @poi[Harmony](1123883) which was an old creamery but now an art community.  It is right next to Highway 1 if you want to stop and vist the shops and cafe.  The route turns right on Highway 46 for the climb back over the Santa Lucia Range.  There are some great @poi[views](1123884) of the Central Coast as you climb up so take a break if you like.  The route will depart Highway 46 at York Mountain Road to take you to the first @poi[winery](1123880) in the area then will take Jack Creek road after that so you get to see more of the area.  Jack Creek Road runs into Vineyard Drive which you will take all the way back to Templeton.  Congratulations on climbing the Santa Lucia twice in one day.

## Regroup or rest areas
* @point[Mile 12.2](d,19690.17) at the start of Old Creek Road is a good regroup spot.
* @poi[Cayucos Pier](1123879) is a popular rest area for cyclist.
* The @poi[viewpoint](1123884) a mile 42.3 is a good place to take a break.

## Cautions
* Old Creek Road has a @slice[steep downhill with some sharp turns](d,22923.04,25825.6).  When you get to the orchards you are past this part of the road.
