Start your ride with 11 miles of flat bike trail along the Columbia River. Grab a few friends and practice your pacelines, the headwinds can be a killer through this section. Enjoy the views of the marinas, and watch the planes @poi[land and take-off](1215776) at PDX and the Troudale Airport.

Mile 12 begins your first @slice[small climb](d,18564.25,21551.24), nothing more than 4%, but it will feel like you have climbed for miles.

Follow the Springwater Cooridor towards downtown Portland. Be sure to stop at @poi[Cartlandia](1215783) for a quick bite to eat. Once in town, ride by the bridges, before heading towards North Portland. Be prepared, this is nothing less than 4% grade to @slice[reach the top](d,56317.06,57524.85).

Your hard work has paid off, enjoy the @slice[sweeping views of Portland](d,57578.14,60519.05) as you head down Willamette Ave towards University of Portland.

Heading north you will hit the outskirts of the Smith and Bybee Wetlands area (@poi[Extra credit: Turn left at mile 42, to head out to Kelly Point)](9a9e80c46c65771ead070000)

Finish the ride along the Columbia River, use the slight downhill to spin out your legs. At the end of the ride, grab a beer and pizza at @poi[Pizza Mia](1215777).

There are bathrooms at five points along the route. There may be additional ones, but these will always be open.

* Boat Launch on Marine Drive (Mile 3)
* Linemann Station (Mile 16.5)
* Cartlandia (Mile 22.75)
* Sellwood Park (Mile 27.5)
* Kelly Point Cut-off (Mile 42, cross Portland Ave and take bike path around 3/4 of a mile).

Although you are on bike paths for most of the ride, you will ride with traffic (on bike lanes) for some parts. Use caution at the following points:
