Route Details

This route is one of the flattest around, but do not assume it is the easiest, in fact I have found it to be one of the most difficult at times due to wind. Depending on your starting location this ride can be quite long, around 75 miles, but can be shortened significantly without missing much. The roads are nice and have a few points of interest along the way.

The road surface is nicely paved, with ample shoulder along highway 84 and lower speed limits and low traffic on the other roads. You can start in Las Vegas for a fairly long ride, or shorten it slightly by starting in @point[Romeroville](d,10338.65) or shorten it greatly by parking along highway 84. This ride is a year round route, except during only the worst of snow storms.

If you start in Las Vegas, you will head South on Grand Ave. and then take Frontage Rd. to Romeroville. Start your ride here for ample parking at the gas station on the West of I25 and stock up on food and liquid as this may very well be the last spot for anything until you return. The majority of the mileage of this route is on highway 84 which heads Southeast toward Santa Rosa. Things to keep in mind about this route are:
* There are no rest stops along the way, except for one bar across from @poi[Sacred Heart](1241491).
* Dogs are around, but mostly harmless.
* The wind can make this ride seem very easy until you're headed back, Hwy. 84 is false flat uphill most of the way back.
