Route Details

Unless you can summon your inner Charlie Gaul or Mara Abbot, these roads are going to hurt.    This is a selection of the steepest, punchiest climbs in the area, and a route that can be lenghthened or shortened easily.  As well as being able to climb, descending skills will be equally as important.

I started this one out at a sweet, idyllic favorite, the @poi[Farmer's Wife Cafe](1557796) in Ancramdale, though you could also start this one from Millerton, NY at the @poi[Irving Farm Coffee House](1557182) where there is also plenty of parking and the Harlem Valley Rail Trail.

These are the climbs, in order:

* @slice[Rt. 82/Decker Road](d,14488.27,17915.02)
* @slice[Sielger Hill](d,25680.43,27315.59)
* @slice[Schultz Hill](d,35686.54,37302.14)
* @slice[McGee Hill](d,40410.29,43447.48)
* @slice[Sawchuck Road](d,55207.3,57586.63)

To lengthen the route: after Doodletown, head West on Route 82, across the Taconic Parkway and ad in Rt. 15 which runs parallel to the Taconic Parkeway.   At the T, go left on Rt. 8 which will bring you almost right back to where Doodletown Road ended.  Carson and Overmountain/Cattalino Roads are two more challenging gravel roads that can also be incorporated easily into this loop.
