Route Details

This is the route for the weekly Thursday Solomons Sunset Ride leaving from the @poi[Patuxent Adventure Center](1590448) in Solomons, MD.

After leaving the shop and a warmup on Dowell Rd. get ready for the @slice[rollers along the Southern Connector](d,7527.48,9275.12).  Then zipping down Olivet Rd. will reward you with a beautiful water view (so make sure to stop and take a few pictures to share!).  But all that down comes with a price - @slice[climb back up Olivet](d,12920.89,13589.48) and head towards the quiet roads in Drum Point.  Enjoy great water views of Mill Creek and the Patuxent River.  Don't be afraid of the @slice[short section where the road goes away along the water](d,27511.86,27663.63).  It is very short and any bike can handle it with ease.  When you pop back out of Drum Pt. on Rousby Hall Rd. get ready to sprint! Yes, all the way to the top of the hill!  After another ride on the Southern Connector roller coaster head back past the bike shop, but don't stop there! The best is yet to come! Time it right and @slice[loop the island in Solomons](d,40391.12,41845.36) and you might just catch a @photo[fantastic sunset](1327132)!  And if you didn't guess it already this is another MUST stop photo op!

Now back to the start at the Patuxent Adventure Center shop to finish your ride.

The staff at PAC is ready with water, bathrooms, and changing facilities both before and after your ride (but they do close in the evenings so check your time).

Next up - dinner at one of the many waterfront restaurants you probably just passed.  (HINT: in season the Tiki Bar is a favorite for quick food from the rib shack and beverage of choice).
