Route Details

Go on a family walk. Get your friends together for a bike ride. Bring your camera and capture the mighty bald eagles during nesting season. These are just some of the many activities that you could enjoy on the North Idaho Centennial Trail. This magnificient trail is a multi-use recreational trail system, that meanders for 24 miles from the Idaho/Washington state line to Higgens Point on beautiful Lake Coeur d'Alene.

Route Points to Help You Along the Way:

This is where the route connects with the actual @point[North Idaho Centennial Trail](d,1076.83) and or depending on direction you are headed leaves the Trail

As you travel along@point[ here you will have some great views](d,3582.98) of the Spokane River and then Coeur d'Alene Lake.

Here you enter the @point[Coeur d'Alene City Park](d,4532.12) and can access the City Beach to take a dip in the lake or you will find @point[public restrooms](d,4518.81) for a bathroom break.

Want to walk the @point[longest floating boardwalk](d,4923.2)? Step off you bike in this area and you can take a stroll along the (Coeur d'Alene Resort boardwalk](d,4923.2).

Newly redesigned with added features, @slice[McEuen Park](d,5313.87,5573.24) can be a place to stop for a picnic lunch, restroom break, or even hike Tubbs Hill to experience some natural wonders and of course more great views of Coeur d'Alene Lake.

@slice[Coeur d'Alene Lake Drive](d,7820.62,8464.79) is where the trail adds a bit of elevation to your ride. The views as you pedal though can't be beat and during certain times of the year you can even see the Eagles feeding when you get closer to Higgins Point.

This @slice[ride ends quite a bit short](d,10298.93,10697.53) of experiencing the elevation I spoke of earlier. If you push on you will be able to climb for a bit and then sail down the other side to Higgins Point. Once at Higgins Point you can ride up again to a point overlooking the lake.

# Important Reminders

## RULES OF THE TRAIL

* Keep to the right of trail and pass on the left

* Alcoholic beverages prohibited.

* Pedestrians have right-of-way.

* All users remain on designated trails.

* Do not block the trail

* Bicycle speed limit: 15 mph

* Maximum of two bicycle riders abreast at any time.

* If pedestrians are present, only single file riding allowed.

* Pets must be on a leash.

* Do not disturb plants or animals.

* Pack-it-in / pack-it-out.

* No structures, including vendor equipment, or organized events without required permits.

* No motorized vehicles allowed on trail.

* Camping is prohibited.

* Marking or painting on trail is prohibited

## SPECIAL ACTIVITIES PERMIT

Any group wanting to have a special activity using any part of the Centennial Trail must fill out a “Special Activities Permit.”

Activities requiring a permit are any organized group event, such as marathons, triathlons/biathlons, bicycle rallies, walkathons, foot races/runs and etc.

Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation requires a special permit to use the trail along the Coeur d'Alene Lake Parkway.
