Route Details

A great longer route that starts in the city and heads to Schomberg, via Kleinberg, with a nice stop at the [Grackle Coffee Company](http://www.gracklecoffee.com).  Road surfaces include pavement of various qualities, gravel, and some roadbike-rideable trail.  There are a couple longer steady climbs on the way into Kleinberg, as well as a good gravel ascent into the trailhead, so riders should have an intermediate level of fitness to enjoy it.  The ride starts within Toronto, and traditionally, meet-up point is at the parkette at Yonge and Davenport, but start-point could be anywhere along the route.

A steady climb starts in the city and moves up Weston Road, and Islington Avenue.  These city arteries can be busy, so early mornings are best for this route.  Road conditions can be rough, depending on time of year, so definitely watch for the larger potholes.  While the route could definitely be done on 23mm tires, 25mm or wider might be more comfortable, especially on the rougher sections.

The rollers heading into Kleinberg are smooth, but a good warmup.  If you need a coffee, there's a @poi[Starbucks in Kleinberg](1793928) at about the 36.5km mark.  If it's really hot or cold, it may be a good idea to take on some more fluids here or warm up a bit.

The next section up Islington and Highway 27 can be fairly busy, so watch for traffic, especially when merging.  There is a decent shoulder along 27 for some sections, but at one point it does narrow to a single lane each way.  Watch the left turn onto King-Vaughan road, as cars coming along 27 can be coming at a good pace.

Concession Rd 10 into Schomberg is a decent and rolling road, usually with little traffic.  It's a rolling ride into the town of Schomberg.  As you go through the town on the way to @poi[Grackle Coffee](1761182), you may want to stop at the CIBC bank machine on the right as you ride in, as it's cash only at Grackle.

Coming out of Grackle, head down Hwy 27 again, so watch for higher levels of traffic.  Head east on Lloydtown-Aurora road, which is quite well paved, with a decent shoulder for the most part.  Follow this down to Concession Rd 7, and then onto 18th Side Road.

Turn south onto Weston Rd, which again has some good rollers that will keep the legs turning.  At the bottom of a nice downhill, head east onto 16th Side Rd
