Route Details

Go for the gusto on this epic gravel grinder in the smallest little town that you have never heard of. This route is definately that route for those of you looking for a challenge as you traverse the Ochoco Mountain Range on a 120 mile journey with just under 9,000' of climbing and lots of gravel to grind.

This ride starts and ends at the @poi[Crooked River Park](1432987) in Prineville, OR.

Head North on Main where you will quickly be rewarded with views of beuatiful Central Oregon's farm and ranch lands. The climb from Main to McKay is a gentle but steady paved path that cuts up into the Ochoco National Forest. As you progress higher and higher into the hills you will be challenged as the grade steepens as it climbs to Harvey's Gap. As you travel further up-hill toward McKay Creek Saddle you will be rewarded with over 3,000' of climbing and views overlooking Mill Creek Wilderness and Twin Pillars.

Continue on gravel and proceed through the forest as you pass by many overlooks, vistas, meadows, and Ponderosa Pine covered mountains. Keep an eye out for an abundance of wildlife.

Just before mile 50 you will hit HWY 26 and will have climbed well over 4,500' and have completed the biggest climb on the course. As you head South of HWY 26 you will pass by Walton Lake and around Beautifl Big Summit Prairie where you will likely see wild elk, deer, large birds of prey, and herds of wild horses. As you come through the Round Mountain and Lookout saddle you will cruise downhill to Ochoco Camp where you will exit the Ochoco National Forest and head West back into Prineville.
