# Cycling Central Florida
The Tampa region offers incredible opportunities for cyclists of all ages and abilities. Whether you are an experienced road racer or elite mountain biker rider, commuter, or just like to putt around on a local trail, the region can offer it all. There are hundreds of miles of urban, beaches, mountain park and state park trails in the region. Hillsborough County alone has well over 100 miles of relatively easy MTB trails in several designated trail systems including Alafia & Balm Boyette.

## Who am I
My name is Chris Sgaraglino and in the past 30 years, I have ridden all over the US, from west coast beaches of San Diego, the deserts of Barstow/Joshua Tree in California, the Red Rocks of Nevada, all throughout the Rocky Mountains in Colorado and now the gator filled preserves of Florida. With elevations from Sea Level to the top of Pikes Peak at 14,114’. Rides as short as an hour to overnight bike packing trips. Sand, snow, mud, dirt, rocks, hard pack, asphalt & concrete – my adventures have been awesome and I am blessed with the ability to keep riding even at 52-years-old and all that that brings with it!

## About my rides
I am a Clydsdale - What started out as a race classification for "larger" cyclists has, over the past decade and a half, evolved into something very different. I am  not a rider that you will typically find in the front of the pack, unless it’s a windy day and others want to draft off me. Nor will you’ll see me on the podium of the Tour de France because I’ll be spending too much time at the beer tents along the route. My style of clothing will be slightly different than the full lycra-clad outfits of the skinny, as there is not much for us in our sizes to choose from. I take my time climbing the hills and mountain trails; there is usually a snack break (or two) at the top before I let my own gravity propel me back down the mountain at a rather brisk pace.

When I talk about “shaving weight” – it’s typically not about shaving grams by swapping aluminum for carbon, more so about dropping pounds by swapping that ½ pound burger for a ¼ pounder!

But what I do have in common is the love for cycling, in all forms, mountain, road and even some BMX. I don’t let my weight, age, size or choice of lifestyle get in the way of what we love to do – ride.

But don’t get me wrong I love to ride! This ain’t no Sunday Stroll through the park! Mountain rides will typically range from 8-16 miles with 1,000 – 2,000 feet of climbing and take about 2-3 hrs, while road rides average 14-16 miles/hr on a 20-50 mile trip that climbs 1,500 – 2,000 feet.
