Road cycling addict...

I'm an unashamed road cycling addict, and love cycling in my home county of Surrey. Surrey was the site for both the Olympic road race and time trials, and has often been used as part of the Tour of Britian. It is full of iconic climbs like Box Hill and Leith Hill, and is packed full of the best of British scenery, quaint villages and excellent, bike-friendly coffee shops.

I've done a few challenges:
* **London to Paris**. Twice - a 3 day "toughie" with the Sky Velo cycling club, and a 4 day easier one with football mates to celebrate a 50th birthday.
* **Coast to Coast in a day**. From Seascale on the west coast of England, via the Lake District, The Penines and the Moors to Whitby on the East coast. A 150 mile onde day classic over some of the toughest climbs in England. * **Prudential Ride London**. I did this in 2014 when it was cut short due to what Chris Boardman called "biblical" rain, and the full 100 miles - in 5:10 - in 2015. A great ride which pretty much follows the Olympic road race route. Entry by ballot which is unbeliveably over-subscribed (35,000 place, 200,000 entries), but there are always charity places available.
* **Pearson 150**. I do this most year's if possible [here](https://ridewithgps.com/trips/4686398)'s last year's route. This is a great 150km ride (hence the name) from Sutton to Brighton and back over the fearsome Ditchling Beacon. It is organised by Pearson's Cycles, the oldest bike shop in the UK. A great little sprint round Richmond Park taking in 4 short sharp hills in a beautiful park; great for a training ride, or if you're short of time. Richmond Park is one of the favourite haunts for all Surrey cyclists due to the stunning scenery and the added frissance that you might have to dodge a deer or parakeet on the way. (less)
