Cycle the WAVE (Women Against Violence Everywhere)

Bellevue, Washington, US

Cycle the WAVE (Women Against Violence Everywhere), is a sponsored, non-competitive, all-women’s cycling event. It is a venue created for women of all ages and fitness levels to experience camaraderie, increase awareness of relationship and sexual violence through visibility and raise funds for domestic violence programs.

The lengths of the varied routes offer something for everyone. The first ride in Washington State in 2008 generated 233 riders and by 2013 participation had grown to over 1,200 women riders of all ages. In 2014, we anticipate hosting over 1400 women cyclists!

The WAVE Foundation raises awareness about the societal impact of sexual assault and relationship violence. We build community and we fundraise to address the issue. We empower everyone, particularly youth and young adults, to recognize the warning signs of violence and to prevent its occurrence.

The WAVE Foundation is working toward a long-term vision of growth with nationwide impact, expanding to bring Cycle the WAVE events to other states.
