**Lookout Mountain is the highest point in the Ochocos at 6,918 feet.**

## Going up
Starting from the Ochoco Ranger Station, you’ll ride pavement up the highway to the @poi[Lookout Mountain](4582963) and @poi[Round Mountain](4582964) saddle, located just shy of 7 miles and 1,500 vertical feet into the ride. This is a good warm-up for what’s next: Once you’re off the highway, you’ll follow @slice[a mile of double-track](d,10817.51,12352.87) before embarking on some of the best single-track in Central Oregon.

From here, you have three choices. Lookout Mountain Trail 804 is the area’s most popular ride. Motherlode Mine 808A is a steep and short jaunt, and Independent Mine 808 is the longest route at roughly 4.5 miles.

## at the top
Whichever path you choose, @poi[the top of Lookout Mountain](4583010) rewards you with amazing 360-degree panoramic views, including the Cascade Range from Mt. Hood down to Mt. Bachelor.

## Going down
Take it all in, then descend Lookout’s ridgeline through @slice[technical single-track](d,16842.32,19927.77). Once you get through the upper 2-3 miles, you’ll finish with some @slice[very fast, flowy, downhill trail](d,19933.56,28612.16). There are a few short climbs to get out, but for the most part you will flow all the way back to your car at the Ochoco Ranger Station for over 5 miles.
