A mix of roads, rail trail, gravel, and single track from Davis Square, Somerville to Nahant and Marblehead and back. A great exploration of the North Shore coastline taking off from urban Boston and returning through gravel and singletrack. Expect a great day of views, beaches, towns and forests. Plenty of places to get food, water and ice cream. While we love to call it "Hell of the North Shore"...it is actually heavenly!

A wilderness gravel ride in Northern Maine, east of Greenville and Moosehead Lake. 100% Gravel roads from AMC's Little Lyford Pond Camp to Medawisla Camp and back. Excellent gravel roads in a very remote location. Can be done in reverse if you are starting from Medawisla. Both lodges make a great base camp for several days of gravel biking, hiking, canoeing and other outdoors activities. This is very remote country with little or NO CELL SERVICE. Would recommend travelling with others and knowing how to fix a flat, etc. as there is also not much road traffic if you have a breakdown. Can get water and snacks at the lodges, when they are open (both are open summer to fall). (less)

Maximized for dirt roads. You can add on a climb of Pack Monadnock for a truly epic day, or split it into several days by bikepacking or staying at a hotel. Some roads that are gravel are listed as paved, so more like 40-50 miles of gravel. Three short sections of single-track and Class VI road mean that you need a bike with tires 35mm or wider. (less)
