Park’n ride from downtown Brenham, Texas. The county seat of Washington County, Brenham is Fredricksburg of East 290, this route will have you convinced the rolling fast terrain of the Black Land Prairie is worth the visit.

Late March - early May is the best time to enjoy the wildflower blooms and rambunctious spring calves to cheer you on from the otherside of the barbed-wire. October to February is also a great time to get a good ride in out here.

The Weiss Store is NOT a store, just a photo-op worth stopping for as you roll across Hwy. 390.

Midway-ish is the Lueckemeyer Store, a true Lone Star State gem. It’ll have all you need.

A classic Montana gravel experience and lite off-pavement adventure that is enjoyable at any pace. Tame, but just enough to make you feel out there. (less)

At 115 miles this route is a quintessential weekend warrior expedition; just enough to satiate the appetite of the adventurous but attainable enough to ride in two days. The southern Cabinet Mountains

Best ridden clockwise; the first twenty miles is westward on a quiet highway along a gentle giant that is the Clark Fork River. Take a dip in Vermillion Bay before turning north on to Blue Slide Road, for a steady but manageable twenty-two mile climb. There are a few opportunities as you ascend to filter water and fill your bottles, as you get closer to the pass there are good picnic spots to stop a snack and stretch the legs.

The descent is just as good as the climb, another twenty-miles down on good dirt, it won’t be long before you reach the Thompson River State Forest. Dirt roads stretch like a web around Loon Lake and the Upper Thompson chain of Lakes. First come first serve camping is available at dry sites around each lake.

Happy’s Inn, an eclectic regional gem, blossoming out of the middle of nowhere on Highway 2, this is the only service on the route. A full service, bar, cafe, and gas station, you can get your fix here. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Happy’s Inn is what makes this overnight possible without having to pack a kitchen on your bike.

The second half of the ride is along the Thompson River, though it trends mostly down hill there is still a considerable amount of pedaling to get you back to Thompson Falls to throw down a large plate of diner food at Minnie’s Cafe or reward yourself with some ice-cream at Scotchman's Cafe.
