**Overview:**
The Florence 50, consists of a 60/40 mix of pavement to gravel, with a few moderate climbs (3% average grade) the route can be ridden in either direction. Park and ride from the @poi[Town Pump](107048208) in Florence, MT. Services are 15-20 miles apart, bring enough food and water to fuel you between stops. Best time of year to ride is May-October.

**Description:**
Parking is free at the Town Pump in Florence. Pick up the route at the intersection of Highway 93 and Eastside Highway. The recommended direction of the route is counter clock-wise, heading south you will be mostly on quite county roads and the @slice[Bitterroot Trail](d,10484.6,14805.6) both of which are paved. After passing through Stevensville the gravel will pick up as you climb the foothills of the the Sapphire Mountains. After reaching the top of the first climb (if ridden in counter-clock-wise) you will enjoy an eight mile descent with a stunning view of the Bitterroot Mountains.

@poi[Three Mile Trading Post](107048211) has inconsistent hours, do not count on them being open but an un-planned ice-cream stop is always a pleasant surprise regardless of the season. The @slice[next climb](d,71557.6,72988.3) is quick but punchy, the unpaved/gravel road will take you back towards Florence. After the final descent you will ride the Eastside Highway back into Florence, but before returning to town the route crosses the @poi[Bitterroot River](107048210). After crossing the bridge, take the first left down to the river access point for a chilly-cool down dip.
