Route Details

We start the ride at Bryan Park Swimming Pool at 1101 Woodlawn Ave wth plenty of parking in the morning. This route first goes by the southwest corner of Indiana University and Sample Gates and the campus hangout street of Kirkwood Ave.    There's a bike shop just to your left if you need something.  Crossing I-69 we are now headed to Ellettsville, a little bedroom community.  Check out Bybee Stone Quarry and then quite a large limestone Victorian house complete with a widow's walk, probably the quarry owner's domicile at
one time.

Now deep into the woods we go to Stinesville, another quarry haven.  Stop by the post office and learn more about this community. We'll now climb up above the White River and then cross it on the modern bridge beside the saved @photo[iron bridge](905158) to your right.  Gosport greets you to this old riverport town. Make sure to stop at @poi[Caseys](1406636) for a drink and a "flip" aka a "turnover".

After heading NW on IN-67, you'll turn north onto Vickrey Rd.  Pay attention and you might see or hear some peacocks nearby.  And then onto Drunkard's Pike.  Just one of those uniquely named country roads of southern Indiana.  Later you will ride at the intersection of Quincy
Jones.

At US-231 in the back of the convenience store is @poi[Lou's Diner](1406638), the best and only restaurant on the route.  Make sure to have a piece of pie before you head onward to the see both @photo[Cataract Falls](905156).  Check inside the General Store, one of the last genuine ones complete with potbelly
stove.

After weaving US-231 you'll reach Rocky Hill Rd, a gem of a road before rocketing down into @photo[Spencer](862962), the Owen County seat.  Just past the White River turn left onto River Rd and have a pleasant climb up to McCormick's Creek State Park with all the services at Indiana's oldest. Then onto some hill IN-43 riding and turn to Hope and then an immediate left on 
Switchboard Rd. Then there's McVille and Dog Killer Ridge. Can you hear the banjo's a strumming?

A lazy climb on State Ferry Rd reaches the peak of Whitehall. If you must, stop at the little cement block general store before the last 10 miles and the B-Line to end the ride.
