Century Rides of Southern Indiana (100mi)
A classic century that boasts Brown County State Park and Nashville
Anyone that has done a century in the Bloomington area has to have ridden the "Nashville Ninety" at least once. This is the club's and the town's most famous and recommended ride in the area as it travels to and around Brown County State Park, Indiana's largest.
We start a Bryan Park Pool at 1100 Woodlawn Ave where there is plenty of parking in the mornings. We proceed east through a nice neighborhood and eventually our eastern business district and then south to Lake Monroe. This lake was created 50 years ago for southern Indiana water supply and is the largest man-made lake in Indiana. Nestled in the northern stretches of Hoosier National Forest, it is quite the boating, fishing, and hunting site of this region.
Turn right into Heltonville for a rewarding stop at the local convenience store and then head back to IN-446 and IN-58 to now venture east to Freetown, and stop there if you need any replenishing. We then travel north to Story where you should stop for some lunch or a cold one at the tavern below the inn. This is just a nice place to stop and kick back!
We are now skirting around Brown County State Parkwhich is the largest in Indiana and the site of Indianapolis' Pan Am Games Road Race. This park is also home to the best mountain biking east of the Mississippi. Nashville awaits you with all its unique shops and restaurants in this weekend destination of the surrounding metro areas.
We have to climb a signature hill, "Bear Wallow". and then can rest our weary legs at Bean Blossom or at the Port Hole Inn near the trestel and Lake Lemon before we head back to Bloomington
