A route that nabs as much gravel as one can in a three state foray, most of it southeastern Columbia County, NY. (Since created in 2015, unfortunately harder, harlemville, martindale, and wolf roads have been paved 😭).

Epic, grueling, and worth every ounce of effort.   This route is mostly in Columbia County, NY but crosses into the idyllic town of @point[Salisbury](d,73460.94) in Connecticut to begin the 1400' dirt climb up @point[Mt. Riga](d,83586.72).   This cimb is never too steep and maintains a steady gradient to the top.   Along the mountainous ridgeline you'll experience a different biome as you cross into Massachusetts.

The route can be started in several spots, but the @point[Hawthorne Valley Farm Store](d,123521.41) is ideal for purchasing pre- and post-ride nutrition: coffee, omelets, cinnamon buns, protein bars for the ride, and other warm farm raised meals at the conclusion.

The route, congruous with the region, is up and down.  It's a route the invites you into nature, offering secretive views of hidden farms and otherworldly ridgelines.

Tompkins Hill and Overmountain Road climbs will pose the most difficult climbs. The route is about 40% gravel, maybe more.

If you have any last minute bike needs, you may want to start the route from the rail trail in Copake Falls and visit @point[Bash Bish Bicycle](d,97322.77). Depending on the season, hours can be limited, so call first.
