Shadowed by the Massanutten mountain peak this route starts at the edge of the resort and goes through area farmland and a few small communities. It takes you through the community of McGaheysville, out into the country past the small town of @slice[Port Republic](d,19813.16,20841.92) after you cross the North River, back past @poi[Cross Keys Vineyard](2023571) and Lakeview golf course. It returns on the same route for the last 6 miles.  This is a moderate length ride with many small hills. It has sections with moderate traffic as well as sections with very low traffic.

START:  This ride is intended to provide a route leaving from the Massanutten resort. A parking/start location is provided as a reference. Adventure Dr., McGaheysville, VA  22840.

PARKING: There is public parking in the water park parking lot. Please use the spaces away from the water park.

DIFFICULTY/CHALLENGES: This is an intermediate ride with a variety of small hills along the way. There are three secions of high speed road.  Traffic may be going 55 to 60 mph and the roads are narrow.  They are @point[mile 11.9](d,19187.94), @point[mile 19.6](d,31525.75) and @point[mile 27.6](d,44418.14).

DIRECTION: The map is laid out in a clockwise direction with no specific reason. It can easily be reversed.

FACILITIES ON ROUTE: There is a @poi[convenience store at mile 2.8](1686851). There are some public facilities at @point[mile 12.4](d,20019.82). This area varies and may have more/less when you are there. You should not count on these for food or water. There are no other facilities until you return to McGahyesville at mile 35.7. The @poi[town of Grottoes](1686850) is close to mile 12.5 if food, water or facilities are needed.
