My overall pace was 13.1 mph only because of 6.5 miles of sidewalk riding to and from the meet up spot. Had it not been for the solo sidewalk riding, my overall pace for this morning’s ride would have been somewhere in the neighborhood of 15.4 mph. Even 15.4 seem low when you consider that our moving speed was typically between 16 to 23 mph, much of that into a steady 12 to 15 mph east wind. Oh well, that’s urban cycling for you, with its countless stops and slowdowns.
Shortly after we passed one area in an upscale single family home area, three of our sheriff’s deputies had to shoot a lady that ran out in the middle of the street with a handgun threatening to shoot anyone and everyone. Her mistake was failing to drop the weapon and then aiming the handgun at the deputies. Major mistake!
All in all, today’s ride was blistering hot, fast, and relatively uneventful – all except for the news about the disgruntled lady that is now deceased. Like they say, that’s life (or death) in the big city.

Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
