Route Details

## Windsor to Tobermory Northbound
*560 kilometers or 347 miles.  Plan you own ride schedule. Mostly flat to sightly rolling with a few hills, moderate. Linear route.*

*Includes Windsor, Wallaceburg, Sarnia, Goderich, Lucknow, Kincardine, Port Elgin, Wiarton and Tobermory. Starts just across the international bridge or tunnel from Detroit  Michigan, accessible by bridge from Port Huron to Sarnia and by ferry from Algonac to Wallaceburg and Marine City to Sombra.*

Memorable expereinces include pipers in Kincardine, Saturdays on Queen Street and evenings at the lighthouse, and annual Pow Wows at Saugeen First Nation near Southampton, Aamjiwnaang First Nation south of Sarnia and Walpole Island First Nation near Wallaceburg. 
# The Route
The route starts from the beautiful Coventry Garden on the shore of the Detroit River. Bicycle through the tree lined waterfront streets of upscale residential neighbourhoods as you cycle along the shore.  The route is mainly on the @photo[Waterfront Trail](3359002) from Windsor to Sarnia and selected paved local roads which avoid the highways with tourist traffic.  Enjoy bicycle friendly roads with paved shoulders or where motor vehicle traffic is light so drivers can easily leave space around you. Ontario law requires all drivers of motor vehicles to maintain a minimum distance of one meter, where practical, when passing cyclists on highways.

This is a scenic bike ride with waterfront views, quiet roads and spectacular sunsets. Enjoy @photo[wonderful resort towns](3364040) with miles of sand beaches on Lake Huron and the historic lighthouses at @photo[Southampton](3358986), @photo[Kincardine](3364442), Point Albert, Goderich and @photo[Lighthouse Cove](3364051).  Bayfield and Goderich are unique historic towns. See the freighters on the St. Clair River as you cycle along the St. Clair Parkway between Sarnia and  Wallaceburg.  The route ends in the charming village of Tobermory which comes alive several times per day when the ferry departs for and arrives from Manitoulin Island.
