Route Details

If you like to explore and don't mind a hill or two, if it leads to great views, then you will enjoy this northern adventure. Twist and turn your way up, down, and around some of the nicest neighborhoods in North Seattle. Have lunch in Richmond Beach at one of the restaurants, or overlooking  Richmond Beach Saltwater Park.

**All of this with low traffic roads. Enjoy!**

## Route

Start off on the @slice[Burke Guilman Trail](d,0,3175.84), and pass by the University of Washington and Husky Stadium. Wind through @slice[Laurelhurst Neighborhood](d,4871.72,10431.54) and after a short stretch of Sand Point Way enter @slice[Windermere](d,10731.1,12601.72) and work your way to Magnuson Park.

Slow down and @slice[cruise through Magnuson Park](d,12960.09,15246.6) on the waterfront. The route is shown using a @slice[gravel path](d,15471.11,15956.93) through the middle of the park; if you don't want to do the gravel, simply go around the south end of the park staying to the right until you get to the @poi[playground](1067874).

Leave Magnuson Park and @slice[go up the ridge](d,16949.82,18518.86) to Sand Point Country Club. There is a guard shack at the entrance, however, the guard has never questioned us. Enter and make a @slice[loop](d,18518.86,20225.25) around the houses in the middle of the golf course. Wind your way through @slice[Wedgwood](d,20225.25,22215.66) and down a narrow, @slice[one-lane, windy road](d,22215.66,22709.32).

Now travel north to @slice[Meadowbrook Pond](d,22709.32,24321.05). Cross the pond on the bridge - we like to stop in the middle of the pond and have a quick snack. ***If there are people on the bridge, please walk your bike.***

Work your way @slice[north](d,24364.94,28093.97) to NE 145th Street, where a @slice[challenging hill](d,28131.28,28528.54) awaits. Once up the hill, cross the main road and go around the back of the cemetery and @slice[continue north](d,28528.54,33366.6) to NE Perkins. Head west, crossing I-5 on a pedestrian bridge, and @slice[continue](d,33434.69,36639.99) to Echo Lake. Use the @slice[Interurban Trail](d,36624.24,37321.87) for a short distance then @slice[continue](d,36589.72,41386.6) to 15th Ave.

@slice[Head to the overlook](d,41386.6,43069.95) of Richmond Beach Saltwater park and have lunch at the park or at one of the restaurants nearby. We like @poi[Richmond Beach Coffee Company](1067838).

Now head South riding near Puget Sound leaving @slice[Richmond Beach then through Innis Arden neighborhood](d,43869.04,46986). Next is @slice[Innis Arden Hill](d,46846.32,48184.88). Enjoy.

Continue South @slice[through Broadview](d,48322.95,54869.71) and swoop down into Carcreek Park for another waterfront view and restrooms. @slice[Climb out of the park](d,54718.47,56824.73) and back to the top of the plateau and wind over to Blueridge. @slice[Blueridge](d,58484.52,62479.7) is again next to Puget Sound with more fantastic views.

Leave Blueridge with a fun descent down to Golden Gardens Park. Caution! The @slice[corner](d,63082.92,63143.13) is rough and tricky. @slice[Follow the coast](d,63290.84,66826.62) on either the bike trail or the road till the Hiram Chittenden Locks. Walk your bike through the locks to the Magnolia side of Ship Canal.

@slice[Work your way up to Discovery Park](d,66932.33,68056.03). Ride through Discovery Park and enjoy the views of Puget Sound from @slice[Magnolia Bluff](d,72224.54,74924.44). Here you will see unbroken views of the sound from up high with Mount Rainier to your South. Also visible is some of the Seattle Skyline.

@slice[Descend down into the valley](d,74924.44,78274.22) between Magnolia and Queen Anne and take the @slice[South Ship Canal Trail](d,78274.22,81083.44) to the Freemont bridge. Cross the bridge and @slice[return to Gasworks Park](d,81071.77,82637.78).
