This is a hard ride, with a **[HC category climb](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hors_cat%C3%A9gorie)**, so don't let the numbers trick you. The ride up to Feslikan Plateau will send you into the realm of fairytales as you ascend from @slice[sea level all the way up to 6000ft in 23 miles](d,31.28,36905.36). Passing through various villages, climates, and sceneries. The best time of the year to do this ride is spring through fall, as the upper highlands will be buried under snow.

# Route

* Parking is widely available, and it's free in all neighborhoods. Parking in Hurma neighborhood is best since it's right at the foothills. 
* Some of the highlights are the viewpoints, the village of Geyikbayiri, and the summit.
* After passing through Geyikbayiri, make sure to take a look back and see the view of the valley below. 
* This route is split into a climb and a descent. The climb is very difficult and requires a high level of fitness. A 34x34 would be very helpful. However, a 34x30 will be hard but doable. 
* Road conditions worsen just outside of Feslikan, towards the last leg of the climb. However, the descent should be mostly well paved with a few potholes here and there that you can't miss.
* Conditions above 5000ft can change without prediction, so always bring a layer, even in the summer.

# Notes

* Spring through fall is the best time of the year to do this ride, as the upper highlands will be buried under snow otherwise.  
* Bring gears; the gradients are steep, and bring a layer, even in the summer. 
* This is a very hard route, so higher fitness level will be required. However, it's doable if you have low enough gearing. 
* Watersprings are abundant all over, and all the villages have markets and small restaurants, so food is available.
