South Bellevue Mercer Island Loop

Route Details

The Mercer Island loop is one of the classic Seattle area rides for most skill levels.

The ride starts at the @point[South Bellevue Park and Ride](d,16.83) off of Bellevue Way and heads across @slice[a bridge on I-90](d,1452.66,1970.42) to Mercer Island. From there you will make a clockwise loop around the perimeter of the island then finish with the Mountains to Sound Greenway trail back to the park and ride. This route is very straight forward with little traffic, a nice shoulder, and mostly rolling hills with @slice[one noticable climb](d,18274.36,18969.76) and @slice[decent](d,17340.29,18175.14). Many prefer to do the island loop twice for a nice 30 mile loop. If you get a chance after to the ride or on your return route, consider stopping at the @poi[Roanoke Tavern](1477862) for a bite to eat and some wonderful craft brews.

# Important Reminders

* South Bellevue Parking lot - Do not leave valuables in vehicle at this location as there are no security cameras.
* Exit on/off trails can be tricky. Make sure to check for cars. 
* Make sure to come to a full stop at all stop signs. This is patrolled. 
* @poi[Bathrooms at the Lid](1477863) have been noted. Make a quick detour onto the Mountains to Sound Trail as needed. 
* The @poi[Lid Park](1477895) has a great view on a nice day. It's worth a look.

Starting from Bellevue, you'll do a counter clockwise loop around the north end of the lake via Kirkland, the along the Seattle-side shoreline, returning via Renton.
