Route Details

Lollipop, lollipop, this ride is a lollipop route. Start out from Webcyclery in Bend's Old Mill District. Enjoy the great bike lanes along Colorado, Mt Washington and Shelvin Park Road as you head west out of town. As you drop down and climb back up the hill near the entrance to Shelvin Park and Aspen Hall, be catuious of cars pulling in/out of the parking areas. There are restrooms at Shevlin if you need a quick pit stop otherwise you are on your own until you ride though Tumalo at the end of the ride.

Turning left on to Tyler Road all the way to Highway 20 takes you on quiet roads wandering past ranches and horse farms. Dogs have not been a problem on this route so relax and enjoy the mountain views. As you reach Highway 20, take a left and go just .5 mile before turning right on to buttery smooth Innes Market Road. If a bailout is needed, instead of crossing straight at Cline Falls Highway, take a right and head directly back to Tumalo. Otherwise continue straight and follow the route to Twin Bridge Road. This road takes you descending down to the river and them immediately climbing back up to meet Swalley Road. You will take a right on to Tumalo Road which drops back into Tumalo. Hang a left at Cline Falls Highway which takes you into this small town. The Tumalo Coffee House you will see on the right is a great stop on the corner of 4th Sreet or the gas station convenience store on the next block. Crossing Highway 20 in Tumalo is the most challenging part of this ride. This is typically easy during the week but more difficult on the weekend due to a constant stream of vehicles. After crossing 20, prepare for a great climb up Johnson Market Road. There are a few sections with final rest once you pass Shevlin Park.

Pedal back into town and retrieve your favorite recovery drink.
