This is a local favorite that takes you through some Staunton neighborhoods and onto the rural roads of Augusta County. With a short gravel add-on, you can visit Joel Salatin's iconic Polyface Farms, made famous in Micheal Pollan's The Omnivore's Dilemma, and the films "Food, Inc." and "Farmageddon."

This is a local favorite that takes you through some Staunton neighborhoods and onto the rural roads of Augusta County. With a short gravel add-on, you can visit Joel Salatin's iconic [Polyface Farms](http://www.polyfacefarms.com/), made famous in Micheal Pollan's *The Omnivore's Dilemma*, and the films "Food, Inc." and "Farmageddon."

You can expect to see farmland with cows and sheep scattered about, several small creeks and ponds and some wonderful views of the Alleghany Mountains.

The route is all paved until you turn onto Shuey Road (State 713) to go to Polyface Farm. To bypass @slice[the gravel road (and Polyface Farm)](d,14652.74,18219.94), continue past Shuey Road, which will make the total ride 20.1 miles.

**DIFFICULTY/CHALLENGES:** This is an intermediate route due to the frequency of rolling hill climbs and the gravel road going to Polyface.

Eliminate the gravel portion to make it a beginner-friendly ride.

The climbs are short but steady. The busiest roads will be the ones getting in and out of town. All other roads are neighborhood and/or rural.
