Exploring Southern Appalachia on two wheels
East Tennessee, what can I say, it's an amazing place to ride. Whether you're riding on the road, gravel, or singletrack, it's all there, and Knoxville is in the middle of it. I've been exploring Tennessee on two wheels for the better part of 25 years...done my share of off road and on-road cycling, racing, touring, and bikepacking. I've got a pretty good handle on where to and where not to ride, and I'll be sharing some of my favorite routes here. I'm going to focus on road riding and gravel riding, while our local mountain bike club, the Appalachian Mountain Bike Club (AMBC), does a fine job of maintaining and promoting the single track. See their website here for more info.
If you'd like to dive deeper into the riding in East Tennessee, see the "Other Projects" section below for links to road and mountain bike route books that I co-authored, as well as a blog I am working on for backcountry gravel and bikepacking rides.
