A cool morning after a very warm day before; perfect for riding! We started with an unexpected jaunt through the little tunnel under the Wedgemere train station. and then headed north through Winchester Center and onto the Tri-Community Bikeway. Further north we ducked through the parking lot of an apartment building dodging dumpsters and speed bumps and onto the Salem Street bridge over Route 93. Then to Wakefield via a bicycle/pedestrian bridge over the commuter rail track and on around Lake Quannapowitt with lovely view from its eastern shore. Arriving at Breakheart Reservation, we split into two groups with the majority tackling the challenging ups and down of the hilly path. We met at the Visitor Center for rest and various biological needs and for the group photo. The return route was direct to the Fells with an extended climb up Ravine Rd. followed by a descent down Fulton St. Then back through Oak Grove Cemetery to our starting point. Turnout was excellent with only one absent who had notified me in advance.
