It was a bright but chilly morning as we congregated at Uxbridge. Nine headed out on the long ride and eight of us, Jacky, Liliane, Lesley, Jane, Les, John J, Clive, and myself on the short ride.
We left Uxbridge towards Denham and on to Tatling End up Hollybush Lane then along the Oxford Road to elevenses at Jung’s Patisserie in Gerrards Cross. Tea and coffee downed Jacky, Liliane, Les and I left to continue the ride leaving Lesley, Jane, Les, John J, Clive to finish and return home.
We headed through the quiet backstreets of Gerrards Cross across Goldhill Common turning onto Welders Lane and Longbottom Lane on route to Beaconsfield.
Picking our way through quiet roads and paths through Beaconsfield we reached our lunch stop at The Swan PH on London End parking our bikes in their rear garden.
After a good lunch in a welcoming, vibrant pub it certainly seemed colder as we left the town by the ‘back door’ down the alley to Malthouse Square and on to the path over the M40 and on to the A355. A short ride along the footpath to Burnham Road which we followed round to Ship Hill and Park Lane turning into Burnham Beeches. We followed Halse, McAuliffe, and Dukes Drives across the Beeches to Egypt and then Stewarts Drive to Farnham Common. We the followed the well ridden path to Black Park along Templewood Lane, Duffield Lane, Hollybush Hill, and Rowley Lane. Entering the Park we walked the bikes round to a very busy San Remo Cafe for afternoon tea.
We left Black Park by the Pinewood Road gate and returned to Uxbridge through Pinewood Green, Iver Heath, and Chandler’s Hill.
The return trip to Uxbridge was 26 miles.
