Stehekin Valley Rd. O&B

This ride begins at the Landing and turns around at the North Cascades NP entrance (bridge.) The lower half is paved, while the upper half is gravel/dirt.

If the road is open above the bridge, the ride can be continued to the point where it was cut by a flash flood several years ago. Locals have asked the NPS to rebuild the cut section of this historic road, but no luck thus far.

I did this ride the first time during my Spring 2012 stint as Artist-in-Residence on a MTB provided by the NPS.

This was the first chance I had during my spring stay to ride all the way up to High Bridge - and it would be several weeks before the snow & ice would clear enough to allow me to ride all the way to road's end within the park itself.
