Training objective: easy spin of the legs now that I'm back on the road bike in Amsterdam as we ramp up preparations for the Alps ride in June~/
Heart rate monitor was totally f*cked up - went up to 180 bpm's or something crazy and I was practically coasting. Took it off and it was still climbing, then disabled it. Crazy, man. I'm ordering a replacement... higher cadence which should keep the locals happy - ha ha. :)
I have to cycle to Leiden tomorrow to return a wallet to one of the Dutch 36One participants who left it in Oudtshoorn (2nd place women's podium finisher, Johanna Josten). It's about 1.5 hours to ride there. Then we'll do a ~3 hour ride together before I cycle back to Amsterdam. And Sunday, I have a 60 km social ride to get back in with the local Amsterdam cycling crowd. So, maybe let's hold off training until next week (Monday or Tuesday is fine). By then I'll also have my new heart rate monitor.
I checked at the local bike shop - I can't easily make a 12-32 cassette due to the blocks on the Shimano cassette, so I'm going to stick with 11-32 for the Alps. Also, looks like my existing 160 mm rotors are pretty good for cooling, so don't need to new ones. Won't upgrade the rims, either, as they say I've got pretty good hubs. Wow, the trip is getting cheaper by the minute - the missus will be happy! :)
Have booked the bike for a full service on May 29th, which is 2 weeks prior to the trip.

Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
