Twelve loiterers set out for coffee at Headstone Manor on a delightfully clear morning. We took a fairly direct route to North Harrow which worked well until we encountered traffic congestion caused by resurfacing work just short of our destination. Melissa joined us in the cafe adjacent to the moated farm house which dates from the 14th century. Suitably refreshed we followed an eccentric route to Rayners Lane passing through the West Harrow allotments just because you can. After that it was down the cycle path to Petts Hill and on to the Greenwood. A shortage of lamb shank dimmed this popular Wetherspoons' reputation. In the afternoon we played hunt the bridge under the Parkway and finished up at the RAF bunker in Uxbridge for tea well before sunset. Thanks to all the 'back markers' who kept the ride together at crucial moments. Peter G
