Saturday, March 21, 2015. Three Creeks trail complex. First GWNN ride of 2015.
We kicked off our 2015 ride season in a traditional fashion with a run on the Blacklick Creek trail from the Three Creeks trailhead to Glacier Knoll and back. Wanting more miles, David and Linda rode the Alum Creek trail down from their house in Bexley. Fortunately, the SR 104 underpass was under less than 6” of water and they made it through OK. Bill, Della and Kevin rode up the Alum Creek Trail to meet them.
We assembled at the Three Creeks trailhead for our mandatory group shot. We rolled out through brown Winter woods showing no signs yet of Spring flora or fauna. The sun was thin and the air was still a bit on the cool side but it felt great to be riding. The underpasses at Hamilton Road and Winchester Pike were dry but signs of recent flooding were abundant. We arrived at the Glacial Knoll trailhead without incident. Time for a necessary break, a snack and some more group chat.
On the return ride, we split into two groups as a faster group with Sherm, Diane, Gene, Kevin and Lin departing ahead of the main group.
Despite a freshening headwind, the ride back was pleasant with conversations being the ride theme. We picked up Gene and Lin along the way but Sherm, Diane and Kevin ware already back at trailhead with bikes loaded when we rolled in.
Load the bikes, more chat, let’s eat. Scott, Lin, Roger, Cindy, Bill, Della, Carol and I headed to Frisch’s to refuel.
It’s been another long cold winter but here’s looking to another great ride season.
