One of the most well-known climbs in the Dolomites and frequently used in the Giro d'Italia. It starts in the popular basecamp village of Cortina d'Ampezzo and takes on the more scenic northeast side of the climb in perfect autumn conditions. The first part of the climb shares the same road as the Passo Falzarego, which is available in the film collection as an alternative route that you could take from the 6 km mark. The climb comes in two parts: the first part of 8km being fairly easy as you climb out of the valley to a light plateau to catch your breath. On the way, we catch a strong local rider who joins us for some miles. The main climb starts a little way after you have pulled off the more busy road to the Falzarego. It’s a mix of pine forests and opens up towards the top to some of the most amazing views in Europe. The profile is fairly uneven with some short steep sections. The Passo Fedaia would be the next climb if you were to descend all the way down the other side. This climb with its deep Sottoguda gorge is also available in the Tacx Collection.
