This is basically the same route as the Grand Tour "Double Metric" route, except that this started from over by the Starbucks on the other side of PCH, while the double-metric in late June starts from Webster Elementary on Winter Canyon (off of Civic Center Way). The hardest part of the route comes early, with the climb of Latigo Canyon, which can sort of be broken down into a climb of 3 stages (parts 1-3 under the Annotations on the left panel).
Rode primarily with Donato. TJ came with a friend, and they started early, so I only saw him briefly a couple of times late in the ride. Also starting out with us was Keith, Edina, Stan, and Brant. Shai was also there, and started a little ahead of us, but otherwise rode with us most of the way, well beyond the last rest stop, but we unfortunately dropped him when we joined a pace line that was moving at 27 mph around Pt Mugu. A very accomplished doubles and ultra-endurance rider joined us, Rick Jacobson. I did a fair share of the pulling into headwinds between Camarillo and Port Hueneme, and most of it from Pt. Mugu back, which wasn't that hard given we had tail winds much of the time. (Hurray!) Maybe due to the tail winds, I felt strong considering I thought I was fairly tuckered out while we were at the Port Hueneme rest stop.
