A local favorite! If you have one day to ride and want to ride 50 miles without a lot of climbing, this is the ride. The loop takes you through three well known wine regions in northern Sonoma Valley. There's also a couple nice places to get lunch along the route. The terrain is flat to rolling on mostly newly paved roads mixed with some rougher sections- for a little local character. With our new PERFORMANCE E-BIKES mixed level riders can ride together!

You'll ride south-west-north through the Russian River Valley area and back through Dry Creek Valley, east-south over Canyon Rd and into Alexander Valley.

Route Details

Right out the door from our Touring Center roll through three valleys, past old barns, grazing sheep and goats and then enjoy a craft beer or infused cocktail and kick back at one of the many downtown patios.

From Wine Country Bikes Touring Center the route travels south through the Russian River Valley. Eastside Rd for just a couple miles and then cuts over to Starr Rd where you'll brush the edge of the town of Windsor (this helps avoid a very narrow section of Eastside), before winding through ranch, vineyards and pasture. Once over the old Wholer Bridge, you'll climb a short hill that drops you down from the wooded Russian River area, where a pair of bald eagles nest. The route then weaves through the upper grape growing region of the Russian River, heading north towards Dry Creek Valley on a rolling picturesque small road. You'll start to come across many wineries at this point. We've included the summit symbol on the map to mark the popular climbs surrounding this valley ride just in case you want hills.

West Dry Creek Rd meets Westside Rd just as it makes a 90 degree turn into town. Continuing north on West Dry Creek, you’ll travel past small vineyards on the right and dense woodlands on the left. The dam directly to the north, the Inner Coastal Range to the west and the Mayacama Mountain Range to the east create a lush horse shoe of green mountains in the spring which turn to the California "golden hills" in the summer. If you need water or food, cross Lambert Bridge Rd at 27 miles to visit the Dry Creek General Store. Back in the day, this was a stage coach stop frequently visited by Black Bart- infamous outlaw and poet. He was always very kind and courteous to his victims. Now it's a gourmet deli, local foods and valley hot spot.

Just before the dam you'll cut over Yoakim Bridge Rd, past Dry Creek Peach, and climb a one mile hill that drops into the Alexander Valley. The final portion of the ride is a flatter route that takes you south, hugging the base of the Mayacamas Range before turning west and back into Healdsburg. This is the final leg of your ride, the last valley of three, so you may consider stopping for lunch in Geyserville at Diavola (10 miles from WCB Touring Center)

A few miles from town you'll encounter the busiest road on the route, Alexander Valley Rd, which brings you back into the Dry Creek Valley. This is a two mile section that you need to use caution, ride single file and when possible to the right of the white line. This is a popular cycling route and the majority of the local traffic is experienced at passing cyclists since there are so many in Sonoma County. Lytton Station Rd is a low traffic route that will take you over to Lytton Springs and Chiquita Rds so you can finish your ride on a small country road.
