**About the Park:**  The Lynn Woods is an old time mountain bike park.   With the start of the mountain bike craze in the late 1980’s Lynn became the Go-To park for mountain biking. This 3300 acre park has some of the most technical and ferocious trails you will find in the area.  There are no easy-trails at Lynn Woods, as every foot traveled is earned and paid for in sweat.

**About the Ride:** This ride is a pure mountain bike ride. Intermediate to Advanced level, this ride is not for beginners.  The ride loop is 11 miles, at a 5 – 6 MPH pace.   There are lots of opportunities to explore other trails not shown on the maps. This loop will get you to most areas of the park.

The West side is more suited to X-Country, while the East side is more geared to Down-Hilling, trial sessions, and rock-jumping.  Strongly suggest you observe the posted trail photos to get an idea what the @photo[trail terrain](1692353) is like.  Expect @photo[small trail rocks](1692361) (baby-heads), @photo[large trail rocks](1692362) (go-overs), @photo[ledge riding](1692364), @photo[roots everywhere](1692366), @photo[impossible climbs](1692368), and twisty blind corners.

**Ride Equipment:**   Fat Bike, full suspension MTB, or hard-tail MTB is required. There is no place to stop for food/water, or bike parts on this ride. Expect 2-3 hours for this ride.  Pack Bug-Spray, 70oz water, and a snack. Bring repair gear or you will be walking.  Bleeding is the norm for this ride.

**Riding the Route:**   Parking at the Great Woods Road lot off of Rt. 129 in Lynn Mass is the best starting location.  Pennybrook Road, and a few side trails are the only other access.   Facing the woods from the lot, there is a trail to the West, and one to the East.  This route will bring you to both sides of the park.

Heading up-hill to start this ride to the @poi[West](2081471), we will get the hill climbing out of the way early.  Starting on the fire road, at the first intersection you hit, will be a small single-track to the Left. Cornel Path will take you to a single large boulder where you will stay to the right and climb another hill.   This is one of the best down-hill runs in the park, but we climb it.  You will be properly warmed up for the rest of the ride, once you reach the summit at @poi[Stone Tower](2081472).

As you approach @photo[Stone Tower,](1692351) the trail you want is the single-track (@poi[Boulder Path](2081473)) to the left of the tower.  Here is a great ½ mile highly technical single-track.  As most trails here, this one ends at a fire road, so you can wait for friends there.

Heading you down the fire road and back towards Stone Tower,  after ¼ of a mile, take @poi[Way-Cross Path](2081474) to the Left.  This one is fast but short, ending at a fire road.  The fire-road goes downhill but do not get too excited, just as you pick up speed, you must take a right onto another single-track.  This is a @poi[hard initial climb](2081475), recommend you are already in the Grannies before you hit this hill.  This will loop you back to the Start of Cornel.  Because Cornel is a great trail to ride.

Recently changed this route to go along @photo[Breeds Pond](1692379) and way-out to some cool trails on the West Side, almost no one knows about.

Some of your fastest riding will be from @point[here](d,7703.76) down to @photo[Birch-Pond](1692371).  Following a small section of the shore line of Birch Pond, will loop you back onto the same trail you just came down.  There are more shore-line trails on Birch Pond, but they are for walking, nearly impossible to bike on.

Once you come out of the single-tracks, you will be near the Saugus Horse Stables and the crushed-rock top @poi[Walden Pond Dam](2081479). It is ½ mile of crushed rock hell, but gets you to the East side of the park, where things get fun.

Once on the other side of the Dam, you will enter the @poi[Enchanted Forest](2081480), an area like none other in the park.  If the wet season you must traverse the water in 2 places to continue riding.  It is not deep.  At the end of this section, you will dump out onto Rt 1 in Lynnfield.  100 yards up, and you will see another trail head.  This is a @poi[trials area](2081481), where you can pretend you can ride this stuff, or stick to the by-pass trails.  A short section, but tons of fun.

Back side of this area gets you to the Power Lines.  You will take the route provided until you hit the Wolf Pits.  Then we route you over to a couple of great outlooks over Walden Pond,  then over to @photo[Grand Central](1692446) where the really fun-fun stuff is for the remainder of your ride.  Enjoy and do not forget your Band-Aids.  This is where you can catch **"Wicked Hard"** the trail that is featured in the above Video... or continue on the original marked route.
