Not quite the full four hours, but I think the headwind on the way home from Frankston made up for it
Easy spin out to the end of the Djerring trail, then a very wet & muddy trip down the Eastlink trail along the creek to Carrum. Red granite grit everywhere, and tiny insects filling the air and eyes. Along the way I met a couple going away for a three week bike tour around Gippsland, wished them all the best with the weather!
Turn left at Carrum along the Peninsula link trail and very soon afterwards was dealt a solid blow to the head, zero warning, no sign of the magpie before, just a bang on the helmet hard enough to make me swerve half across the path. Stopped a little way up the path to log it in https://www.magpiealert.com/, casting a wary eye back up into the trees as I did
Next hazard a little later while riding through the Edithvale wetlands, dodging eight or so teens on trailbikes tearing along the bike path three abreast. That'd explain the ripped up grass & dirt through the nature reserve
More eyefulls of bugs on the way down to Frankston, and an ominously black sky ahead. A huge clap of thunder had me thinking about the shortest & quickest way back to the beach and shelter, but no rain eventuated... yet. Then down through Karingal to the bay and turn back to the north. Now the rain started, pretty solidly from here to Seaford, and when the rain eased off the wind started up. Got home in just under four hours, covered in grit & mud and with both bike and I needing a wash with the hose
