Schwarzwald North, Stage 3 - Hornisgrinde

Following on from stage 2 on the car-free Murg valley cycleway, this final stage climbs up to the highest point in the northern Black Forest. It’s a relatively steady, wooded climb which starts with a very mellow undulating valley road for the first 10km. Then there is a more sustained climbing effort for the following 4km until you reach the ridgeway main road that traverses much of the northern Black Forest. After a short rest we leave this road and climb up the steeper final 1km ramp to the top of the Hornisgrinde. The route makes a quick loop past the various antennas in the blustery wind to descend back to the main road, where we will continue along the ridge road to cool down.

    Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.

    Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
