Today, the weather looked better, so I set out on my bike ride at 10:30am. The temperatures were in the lower 40s and cloudy, but they were expected to warm up into the mid to upper 40s by the end of the ride. As I rode through Gaston, I encountered a section of the road that was covered in water and I had to ride in the oncoming lane to avoid the deepest parts. The homes across from the baseball diamonds were surrounded by water, as were several other homes on Old Highway 47. When I reached Scoggins Valley Road, I almost turned back because of the dark skies and the increase in mist. However, I continued and encountered rain on the west side of the Hagg Lake loop on Scoggins Valley Road, which lasted until I reached the dam. As I rode east and got to Old Highway 47, the weather cleared up and the temperatures warmed up. On Spring Hill Road, just after Highway 47, there was another section of road covered by flowing water that was deeper than the section I encountered in Gaston. The Tualatin River was high everywhere, and in some places it was close to or over the road. On Geiger Road, I encountered another area of deep, flowing water. The water was around 5 inches deep and had a strong flow, which made it difficult to ride through. I had to turn the front wheel slightly into the flow and couldn't pedal fully. On Tongue Lane, near the golf course, several trees had fallen and taken out the power lines, which were being repaired. This caused traffic to be reduced to one lane. As I rode through Jenkins Estate, I saw multiple large trees and limbs that had fallen. The last half of the ride was in the mid to upper 40s and sunny. Before the ride, I had 2 pieces of bacon. During the ride, I ate one Bobo bar, one waffle, and drank one bottle of Skratch, for a total of about 600kcal.
