Another great day to cycle! Cool at the 4am start, as it dropped down to 45F. The end was a bit too warm for Kirk, my cycling companion today. It was his permanent and the first time to go to from Bartlett Lake. He is a great climber and was long ahead of me climbing up to the Towers, then over to Sears-Kay, down to Bartlett, and then back up. Heat got to him a bit and I was able to hang with him on the Dynamite climb. At Bartlett store, I had a 12 oz can of V8 and Almond Joy. I felt great on the return climb, so many I should do that combo more often? The start of the ride saw very low to no traffic until we got to Carefree Hwy. But that return across town westbound at the end was a different animal. I need to see about an alternative path. This was the first time I did the #93 Bartlett perm on a different route, using Happy Valley instead of Carefree hwy west of I-17. Happy Valley was low traffic and we made all the signals. Great pavement, so I was happy with that change.
