Quite a lovely day, sunny but cool enough to start with jackets. Starting from the Old North Bridge parking area we headed into Concord Center and down Main Street to Nashawtuc Road and detoured into a neighborhood that was unfamiliar to most and involved a seemingly gratuitous hill. We continued on south over "Old Road to Nine-Acre Corner" (a.k.a "ORNAC"). That brought us to Powder Mill Road connecting to the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail (BFRT). We followed an 8.5 mile segment of the trail through some lovely wetlands scenery and made the passage through West Concord and over the brand new and spectacular bridge over route 2. A leisurely stop at NARA park refreshed us and provided a setting for the photo. After leaving the trail in Concord, we found the hills that were advertised. Most agreed that the descents were were worth the climbs. On the way back we blew by an ice cream stop opportunity at Kimball Farm having already spent our rest time at Nara Park. Riders were: Joy, Gaille,, John, Ruth, Barbara, Laurie, and Nancy. They are flanked by two viburnum bushes; a Japanese snowball viburnum on the left in the photo and a Sargent's viburnum on the right.
