WVC had their Memorial Day out n' back on Sun Valley Parkway to Festival Ranch. About 12 riders, all good strong riders. Karen had her ebike!
Started off slow with a Derrick flat. Once that was fixed we were off at a good pace to Bell and then kept improving on that pace out Sun Valley Parkway. All cyclists stayed together although we may have had 1 turn back earlier.
Within site of the stop lights at Festival Ranch I decided it was time to go! So we had our "sprint" aka surge! Everybody followed! Fun time.
After filling 2 bottles, 1 of which was empty on purpose to here, I decided to continue around WT on SVP. Asked if anyone wanted to join! No takers.
The west and south legs were fast! But then of course that turn east on Southern, was into a strong headwind and speed decreased to 12-13mph. I just settled in and enjoyed the ag fields of alfalfa in bloom, some being cut, and the corn being over my head!
Turned north on Watson and into Carl's Jr for a breakfast biscuit and fill of water bottle. I should have drank more and filled both bottles. Off to Verrado. It was getting hot!
Did a couple of the Verrado hills Lost Creek and another. Then homeward. Decided then to actually to 100 miles, so added loop around S.... and south to McDowell and partially around LP loop to get to 100. Oh had to stop with 4 miles left at downtown LP to get a water refill at Whataburger!
I tried to stay more consistent in eating and drinking an not pull into home exhausted, but more ready to continue for another 100 miles.
Great day of cycling! Upon getting home it was great to get a text from Wray to check on my wherebouts! He did great today, for initially thinking he was not going to hang with the group, but he did.
