Sixteen riders elected to join Ian on his medium ride. I rode with the second lot as we made our way to elevenses at Windsor via Iver and Langley, on through Ditton and Upton Parks, across Jubilee River, and crossing the Thames at Eton Bridge en route to elevenses at the Garden Café in Alexandria Gardens, Windsor.
Suitably refreshed the we made our way through Windsor to join the A308 Albert Road where we joined the shared cycle path to Old Windsor. Crossing the main road we turned into Albany Road and onto Burfield Road which was followed to our lunch stop at The Bells of Ouzeley which commands a fine view up the Thames. To prove that spring had officially arrived some of our party elected to dine alfresco in the garden.
Replete we made our way along the Windsor Road through Runnymede towards Staines. On reaching Runnymede Pleasure Ground we left the road for the calm of the Thames towpath which we followed past Bell Weir Lock to Staines Bridge where we had to rejoin the traffic. We followed the road around the shopping centre, under the railway, turning into Mill Mead. We continued on paths, some a little lumpy, under the shadow of The King George VI Reservoir to Stanwell Moor
and tea at Vermeulens Garden Centre.
Leaving Stanwell Moor the party divided with on group returning via Poyle and Iver and the other through Harmondsworth and West Drayton with the groups dispersing on the way. Another good day out cycling with the Loitrers.
